Viruses in their latent state lie dormant in the host cells and are invisible to the immune system.  Certain viruses can be reactivated and re-emerge from latency.  In addition, latent and lytic viruses can stimulate malignant cell growth and form cancerous tumors.

Currently, there are no effective treatments of these virus attributable tumors.  Vironika is working to develop inhibitors that will block latent infection.  By targeting viral proteins, these therapies will have a low toxicity profile and eliminate the viruses hidden in our cells.

Vironika has screened over 500,000 compounds.  We have identified a number of leads and are working to develop them further.
